[Block 6A]

This large stone house was built by Joseph Robidoux III in 1802. A tall stone tower with a steep pointed roof stood behind the house, and had a bake oven in it which supplied St. Louis with bread. The Robidoux family moved to Block 5 in 1806, but their house was used for public purposes thereafter. In 1812 the first session of the Missouri Territorial House of Representatives met in this house.
