This unfinished house was owned by Ante V. Bouis.

From the site of Bouis' unfinished house, the modern view looking southeast is of the Gateway Arch Parking Garage and the overlook and floodwall above the Mississippi River to the east.

This modern view was taken looking northwest toward the site of the unfinished Bouis House. The Bouis buildings once stood on the opposite corner of First and Washington streets. The view encompasses the bridge abutment for the Eads Bridge, showing the arched entrances for Clamorgan Alley and Second Street.
