This house was built in 1796 for the Papin family. Joseph Marie Papin (1741-1811) was married to Marie Louise Chouteau (1762-1817), a daughter of Madame Chouteau and Pierre Laclede (see Blocks 33 and 34), in 1779. The house was built by Deshetres in 1766 and measured 40 x 25 feet.
