L.D. Bienvenue owned this house in 1804.It was built in 1786, had dimensions of 20 x 25 feet, and was poteaux enterre (posts in the earth) in its construction. This was the last surviving French colonial house in St. Louis, and was photographed at least twice before it was demolished in 1875. The area where this house stood is now part of the interchange and auto bridges for the Poplar Street Bridge and Interstate Routes 44, 55 and 70.
