Jean B. Lorain, who operated a tannery on
the west end of the property, built this small French frame house.
The house was of post on sill construction and measured 25 x 20
feet. In 1799 Lorain sold his house and property to fur trader Manuel
Lisa. In 1814 Lisa sold the house to his partner, Theodore Hunt,
and moved to Block 8.
