Visitor Center Hours:

January 2 - May 25, 2006 open 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

May 26 - June 10, 2006 open 8:00 am - 6:00 pm.

June 11 - mid-August, 2006 open 8:00 am - 7:00 pm.

 

The Visitor Center is open daily except on Thanksgiving Day, December 25 and January 1.

Jewel Cave's Visitor Center was first opened in June of 1972. The visitor center is home to the Interpretation offices for the Monument, as well as the main contact station for visitor services. Located in the visitor center is a small museum area with displays and information about the cave. There is a large scale map of the passageways of Jewel Cave, a small bookstore managed by the Black Hills Parks and Forests Association, and interactive computers.

All Monument information is available at the visitor center. It is the starting point for all of the Monument's hiking trails, as well as the starting point for the Scenic and Spelunking tours. Tickets for all tours must be purchased at the visitor center. The visitor center and Target Room in Jewel Cave are accessible for visitors with disabilities. Teacher guide available.
