via Seaplane

The following is updated to 2005 information.  An Expanded Amenity Recration Fee is charged for each day in Isle Royale National Park.

Seaplane Service

Air service to Isle Royale operates from the Houghton Country Airport from May 18 through September 17. Flights daily except Sunday and some Wednesdays, weather permitting. The seaplane accommodates up to four persons. Baggage is limited to 50 pounds per person. The plane cannot carry stove fuel. Selected fuels are available upon arrival at the Park.

Stove Fuel

• Can be carried in secure containers on ferries, but not on seaplane
• Coleman fuel available all season at Rock Harbor and Windigo
• Butane, propane, Sterno, and alcohol (no kerosene) are sold at Rock Harbor late May through early September and at Windigo early June through early September

Parking is available for a fee at the Houghton County Airport, north of Houghton on U.S. 41.
