Trail Signs

The official trail emblem is found along certified segments of the trail.
This is the official trail logo.

The official trail emblem is supplemented by yellow blazes painted on trees or posts. Sometimes plastic blazes are attached to trees.
This yellow sign is called a blaze and can be found on trees informing hikers that they are on the trail.

The Ice Age Trail is built and maintained primarily by volunteers.
This sign informs hikers that the trail is entirely maintained by volunteers.
The signs below illustrate acceptable activities on the trail.

This sign shows that hiking is permitted.

This sign shows that snow skiing is permitted.

The signs below identify activities that are generally prohibited. Bicycling, horseback riding, and snowmobiling are allowed on a few segments. Be sure to check with the manager of a trail segment before doing any of these activities.

This sign shows that ATVs are prohibited.

This sign shows that bikes are prohibited.

This sign shows that horseback riding is prohibited.

This sign shows that snowmobiling is prohibited.

This sign informs hikers that they are on Private Property.

This sign informs hikers that they are entering private property and that the segment is closed during deer hunting (gun) season.

Large highway signs identify trailhead parking areas.
This is a highway sign informing motorists of the trail location.
