Passing of Evelyn Curley,

Mrs. Evelyn Curley of Ganado, Arizona died late Monday afternoon on April 05, 2004 in a two-vehicle collision on Arizona Rout 264 near the Summit, according to the Window Rock Criminal Investigations District report.

Evelyn Rose Curley, 75, died in the 3:45pm head on collision between a Jeep Cherokee and a four-door Nissan Sentra car at Mile Post 467, with the report citing poor visibility and icy roads at the time at The Summit.

Evelyn Curley was employed for over 24 years at the Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site. She retired in 2002. She was a traditional healer, professional cultural demonstrator and homemaker. Mrs. Curley’s hand woven rugs and blankets won numerous awards from the most important Navajo weaving competitions.

Survivors include her sons Benfred Curley, Ernet Curley, Leonard Curley, all of Ganado, AZ., daughters Julia Curley of Window Rock and Marie Perkins of Rio Rancho, NM.

Curley was preceded in death by her son, Davis Curley; daughters Evalena Curley, Evangelyn Curley and Mary LookingGlass; parents Henry P. Anderson and Anna Marie Anderson and one grandchild.
