Mammals

The first small mammal survey in the park's history was completed in 1992 by the New York State Museum. This survey documented 5 species of small mammals; a written report and representative study skins were provided to the park. An additional mammal species list prepared by ROVA staff based on personal and anecdotal observations probably includes all the larger and more conspicuous species. A large and conspicuous White-tailed Deer herd exists at all three sites, with no apparent overpopulation problem.

The park is within the summer range of the Federally Endangered Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis), but no work has been done to verify the presence or absence of this species.

A mammal species list is under construction.
