Horseshoe Bend Junior Ranger Badge

About our Junior Ranger Program . . . .

The program is geared toward school age children, 6 to 12 years old, however no child will be denied an opportunity to "earn" a Junior Ranger Badge. The program should be completed while visiting the park. It takes about 2 hours to complete the requirements to earn the badge and certificate.

Help is available from any Park Service Ranger and of course from parents and grandparents. However, the child is encouraged to do his/her own work.

The program's objectives are to:

  • Help children learn about Horseshoe Bend National Military Park and the Park Service.
  • Develop in the child an appreciation for our cultural and natural resources.
  • Kindle in the child a desire to learn more about our heritage.

The program's requirements are to:

  • Show an interest in the program and register at the Visitor Center. All materials are free.
  • Attend and/or participate in those events needed to successfully complete the required number of activities in the Junior Ranger Booklet.
  • Return the booklet to the Visitor Center to be checked and certified by a Park Ranger.
  • Complete the "swearing-in" ceremony and receive your badge and certificate.
  • Most Important, continue to support your National Parks and learn about our heritage.
