Effective January 1, 2004, several changes will take place in the entrance fee structure at the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site and Hoover Presidential Library-Museum. The regular entrance fee for adults (17-61) will increase from $3.00 to $4.00 per person. Visitors who purchase or possess the Federal Recreation Passports - National Park Pass, Golden Eagle, Golden Age or Golden Access - will receive a 50% discount. Children under 17 and members of the Hoover Presidential Library Association will be admitted free.

The Land and Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965, as amended, requires that an annual comparability analysis of federal area fees in comparison to regional parks and museums be conducted. The analysis documented that the average admission costs to area sites for an adult is $5.60 and a family of four, two adults and two children under the age of 16, would pay $16.15. Although entrance fees at the Hoover Complex were adjusted two years ago, after being static for nearly 10 years, when the Presidential Museum and National Historic Site entered into a joint fee agreement, the sites continue to be a bargain for area residents and the visiting public with the same family of four paying $8.00.

Entrance fees paid at either the Presidential Library-Museum or Visitor Center of the Historic Site entitle the visitor to access the Museum, Hoover Birthplace Cottage, several other historic buildings, Hoover Gravesite, park grounds, and trails through the prairie. Recent changes in fee legislation allow the Historic Site to retain 80% of their share of the fees collected and it uses the funds for interpretation, maintenance and preservation projects on the historic structures and cultural landscapes. The Library-Museum’s share of the fee receipts stay within the community and are used for exhibits and programs sponsored by the Library-Museum.

The Herbert Hoover National Historic Site is administered by the National Park Service within the U. S. Department of the Interior. The Herbert Hoover Presidential Library-Museum is one of eleven Presidential Libraries administered by the National Archives and Records Administration.
