Haleakala is a worldwide destination for bird enthusiasts. The diversity of unique species and relatively easy access to habitat makes for great bird watching. Hosmer's Grove in the park and the Waikamoi Preserve managed by The Nature Conservancy are two popular locations to observe Hawaiian forest birds.

Each Monday and Thursday rangers lead hikes into the Waikamoi Preserve. This is limited to 12 people and by reservation only. Click here for details.
