Floodplain Sediments

Floodplain sediments of primarily silty clays form most of the Hagerman Fossil Beds geology.  These sediments range in age from 2.5 to 3.5 million years old and hold vast quantities and high quality fossil assemblages.

  • Bonneville Flood
  • The Great Rift
  • Yellowstone 'Hotspot'
