EDUCATION

Education volunteers focus on the development, support and presentation of curriculum-based programs. The content includes 19th century American history and some river-based environmental science. The primary topics include the nationally significant resources of the Harpers Ferry area; John Brown, the Civil War, African American history, Industrial history, Transportation history, and Landscape history.

Teacher Volunteer

Primary duty is to organize, prepare and present curriculum-based interpretive programs utilizing current methods, learning theories and curriculum guidelines for students K - 12.

Teacher’s Aide Volunteer

Primary duties are to assist with the organization, preparation and presentation of curriculum-based interpretive programs utilizing current methods, learning theories and curriculum guidelines for students K - 12, and to support the operation and management of the Education Office.

Education Office Volunteer

Primary duty is to support the operation and management of the Education Office.
