PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD BRIDGE AT BROWNSVILLE,
PA.
Description: The historic Pennsylvania Railroad bridge spanning
the Monongahela River north of U.S. Route 40 at Brownsville, Pennsylvania.
Brownsville served as a major transfer point for westbound freight
during the early decades of the 1800s. Conestoga wagons traveling
over the National Road from Cumberland, Maryland, typically transferred
their cargoes to barges for shipment downstream to Pittsburgh and
beyond.
