| THE EXPERIMENT Description: Park Ranger Eric Johnson stands next to a reproduction of "The Experiment", the experimental iron boat frame which Meriwether Lewis had constructed at the Harpers Ferry Armory. Johnson, a blacksmith from Kearneysville, West Virginia, produced this replica by following Captain Lewis' "Dimentions" as noted in his letter to President Jefferson on April 20, 1803.
