Meriwether Lewis at Harpers Ferry

Learn how the U.S. Armory and Arsenal at Harpers Ferry, Virginia, supplied guns and hardware to meet the unique requirements of the Lewis & Clark Expedition. The rifles, accessories, and "Indian Presents" obtained at Harpers Ferry were crucial to the success of the expedition. The collapsible iron boat frame, however, did not work out as planned.
