Map Updated Tuesday, December 30, 2003

The third year of the restoration project began on May 27, 2003 with the arrival of two 28-day old peregrines. Four more were brought to the park on May 31 and placed in "hack" boxes on Maryland Heights. Five of the birds were released June 16 and one released on June 18 with a satellite transmitter. One additional bird was retrieved from the Bay Bridge area and brought to Harpers Ferry on June 27 and released the following Monday. The map (above) shows the location of the transmittered birds during the previous week. As of July 2003, two birds are being tracked and include Falcon 9/G (white dots) who was released in June 2002, and Falcon X/3 (red dots) who was released on June 18, 2003.

During the last week (Dec 17 - 30) Falcon 9/G (white dots) remained in the area northeast of Tampa, FL. She moved to this location in early September. This is the same location she stayed all last winter. Falcon X/3 (red dots), remained in the Chesapeake Bay/Delaware Bay area where she has been since late August.
