The northern copperhead is the only venomous snake found at Great Falls Park. The wedge-shaped head will always be a solid copper color on top. The snake's eyes will have an elliptical pupil, similar to a cat's eye.

Use caution. Do not attempt to pick up or move any snake that you encounter on the trails. While hiking, do not reach into any cracks or other places where you cannot see inside.
