Have you seen this fish?
The Northern Snakehead is a non-native fish from China that has been spotted in the Potomac River. These fish are exotic and can do harm to native fish and other species of aquatic life. The snakehead is considered to be a highly invasive species that has the capability of rapidly affecting native ecosystems. It has no natural predators and can survive for several days out of the water.. If you catch one of these fish, do not release it. Kill the fish by freezing or bleeding, keep the fish, and notify Maryland's Department of Natural Resources at 1-877-520-8DNR, ext. 8230 or at 410-260-8320. The brochure below has more information.
