Nature Trail at Davis Bayou

Enjoy the sights and scents of Mississippi's natural coastline. This wild forested area adjacent to a salt marsh is fast becoming a rare and exceptional place. Mississippi's coastal mainland is being altered for commercial and residential use. Even the large expanses of sandy beaches on the mainland nearby in Biloxi, are an artificial creation and must be maintained. By hiking the Nature's Way Trail you will have the opportunity to pause, sense and enjoy those pleasures of a natural area on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. A brochure that explains the markers you encounter while on this trail is available at the William M. Colmer Visitor Center in the Davis Bayou area.

Ship Island

Covered picnic pavilions are across from the ranger station, with tables, restrooms and a drinking fountain. Outdoor showers and restrooms are available by the snack bar. Covered picnic facilities are  wheelchair accessible and are open daily with ferry trips to take you to the island.  No electricity is available, nor are generators allowed. Skateboards, roller skates, and roller blades are prohibited. Pets are prohibited on beaches and in all facilities. Be alert to changing weather conditions, intense tropical sunshine and potentially dangerous surf conditions. Never swim alone. Barrier island plants are easily damaged by foot traffic; please avoid stepping on plants, and stay off sand dunes. Use established paths and boardwalks only.
