The William M. Colmer Visitor Center and boardwalks in the Davis Bayou Area are wheelchair accessible. The park orientation films shown in the Visitor Center auditorium are captioned. For more information please contact the Visitor Center at 228-875-0074. The Davis Bayou Campground sites #26 and #31 are wheelchair accessible. On Ship Island, the 1/3 mile boardwalk system is wheelchair accessible allowing visitors to go from the north to the south side of the island, to the lower level of Fort Massachusetts, restrooms and the snack bar. Visitors unable to climb to the top level of the fort can view a video tour. A specially designed beach wheelchair located on West Ship Island provides easy access to the beach may be reserved in advance by calling (228) 875-0074. Wheelchair accessible restrooms are designated throughout the park. |
