SpiderflowerSlender Spiderflower

Cleome multicaulis (full-size)

This rare beauty is found on the sand sheet adjacent to the dunes, especially where the water table nears the surface. Slender spiderflower typically grows on the edges of the wetlands or moist meadows. A close relative, Rocky Mountain beeplant, is found in drier locations throughout the park. Slender spiderflower can also be found in arid regions along New Mexico's reaches of the Rio Grande.
