Noel: And he'd keep it under his pillow, but one time when he was gone, I went and peeked. Cause I just. . . everybody was really interested in this fellow. And ah. . . so ah. . . he had a gun, and I've got the gun. But I can remember when. . . when Crestone. . . when one of the buildings would catch afire, there was the bucket brigade kind of thing.

BH: Um hum.

Noel: Actually, they never tried to put a fire. . . a house fire out. They'd just. . . everybody assembled at the house, and they'd go in and salvage what they could. That was it. Because all the houses up there were basically old pine boards, and once they got started—by the time anybody got organized—but the. . . some of 'em went down there, run to the school—ring the school bell. Ollie and he'd step out of his house, and he'd fire three rounds with that little. . . with that big pistol.

BH: Um hum.

Noel: And when all this happened, somebody knew that there was a house afire. So you ran down there, and you helped the owners get as much stuff as you could out. Because forget about. . .

BH: Saving the house.

Noel: Yeah, saving the house. Cause see it's all boards.

BH: Yeah.

Noel: Pine boards, and that's just kiln.
