The Sweetgum Picnic Area located at the entrance of the park has two sets of playground equipment. Please remember this area is a first come -first serve area for picnics for groups of 24 or less. Each group is allowed four tables maximum.

Junior Ranger Program

Greenbelt Park is an 1100-acre forest featuring ten miles of trails, picnic areas and a campground with 178 sites. Jr. Rangers will participate in environmental education and become stewards of the National Park Service.

There will be two sessions of the Greenbelt Junior Ranger program. The first session is Monday June 19 - Thursday June 22. The second session is Monday July 10 - Thursday July 13. Each session is from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The program is for ages eight to twelve years old. Applications can be picked up now. Application deadlines are: Session One - Wednesday June 14. Session Two- Wednesday July 5. The application includes writing a page on why you want to become a Greenbelt Park Junior ranger so please make time to prepare the application. Each session is limited to ten children. Each child can only attend one session. There is no cost for the Junior Ranger program.

Just by logging on, you become a member of a growing group of young people who are interested in the world around them and involved with their nation's heritage...The WebRangers! WebRangers is a web-safe environment where children can explore the parks. No personal information is collected, and none is required for participation in WebRangers.
