National Park Service Announces Baltimore And Oakland Public Meeting Locations To Discuss Colorado River Management Plan
CALENDAR ANNOUNCEMENT
| WHAT: |
The National Park Service (NPS) will host two additional public meetings in the Baltimore and Oakland areas to discuss future management of recreational use and resource protection on the Colorado River through Grand Canyon National Park. The NPS will be preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) that will revise the 1989 Colorado River Management Plan (CRMP) for the Grand Canyon National Park. These meetings will help the public learn about the guidelines under which the river is now managed and allow them to offer input on issues that should be addressed in the planning process. Meetings in Denver, Co., Salt Lake City, Utah, Flagstaff, Ariz., Las Vegas, Nev., and Mesa, Ariz. were held during August and drew more than 850 people. |

The NPS invites public input as they prepare to update the CRMP. Anyone interested in providing input and offering ideas about the future of the river or learning more about the EIS process is encouraged to attend. |

The NPS is committed to seeking public input in order to reaffirm previously identified agency and public issues, and to identify any new issues and concerns. The information gathered at the meetings will then be used to help narrow and define the significant environmental issues and management alternatives to be analyzed in the EIS. |
