VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO ASSIST WITH WORK ON STEAM
LOCOMOTIVES!
We are now accepting applications for volunteers
to help with a variety of park activities during
the coming year.
Golden Spike is currently seeking Engine
House assistants and fire tenders. Winter volunteers
will work with the park's engineers and assist
with the mechanics, repairs, and the routine tasks of
getting the locomotive ready for the summer months.
Volunteers who work at the park in the summer will
assist the engineers as fire tenders. Fire tenders
are responsible for starting the locomotives in the
morning and getting the steam locomotives ready for
the day's operations. These volunteers will learn
skills that enable them to work on the moving
locomotives as a fireman. This is a great
opportunity for individuals to learn a specialized
skill from the park's staff.
Golden Spike currently has two R.V. pads with
electricity, water and sewer connections. These camping sites
are available to volunteers with their own campers
at no cost, although arrangements must be made in
advance. Transportation or reimbursement for travel
costs may be available.
