GOLDEN SPIKE NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE

ANNOUNCES FEE FREE DAY

Golden Spike National Historic Site Superintendent Mary Risser announced that Saturday, September 18th will be an entrance fee free day. Department of the Interior bureaus, such as the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the U.S. Forest Service will waive entrance fees on September 18th to celebrate National Public Lands Day.

"Join us in celebrating America’s Public Lands," stated Risser. “In addition to the variety of interpretive programs and movies that are conducted daily, the replica locomotive Jupiter will conduct steam demonstrations during the day. We invite all park visitors and neighbors alike to enjoy the park on this fee free day.”

The Land and Water Conservation Fund Act mandates that all parks authorized to charge entrance fees shall participate in this annual event. The fee waiver applies only to the entrance fee, however. Visitors to other parks that charge additional fees, such as campground fees or user fees, will be responsible for paying all other park use fees.
