Moose
is Bedding Down
After
a seven week run, the Moose Fire is running out of steam.
A combination of short day lengths, higher humidity, and
cooler temperatures has allowed fire fighters to gain
the upper hand. While crews continue to cool hot spots
along the 96-mile perimeter, rehabilitation of cold areas
has taken place over much of the fire.
Culvert
work and road reconditioning continues inside the fire
area. Approximately 50 miles of road inside the fire perimeter
will be graded. Culverts are being cleaned to allow for
future runoff.
Personnel
on the fire now number 428 with another 4 crews being
reassigned or sent home today. Three helicopters, fourteen
engines, seven excavators, and three water tenders remain
on the fire.
