Mount St. Nicholas is a hard mountain to see. It stands deep in the backcountry in the southern part of the park. A few views from along Highway 2, on the park boundary, hint at its beauty. To really get a good look, visitors have to hike or climb.

If you plan to go backcountry camping, be sure to stop and get a permit at one of the park permit stations. Fees are $4.00 per person per night. You may reserve a permit ahead of time starting April 15th. Go to the activity link for more information.
