Sun Point - August 25, 2005

Sun Point (866kb)
Sun point was once the location of the Going-to-the-Sun Chalets that were constructed by the Great Northern Railway. During the two World Wars, when money and help were scarce, the chalets fell victim to neglect and harsh weather, and were later demolished. Imagine what it might have been like to stay at such a grand place, and views that accompanied it. Today, Sun Point serves as a nature trail for visitors wishing to see close up views of St. Mary Lake and the glacially shaped mountains that make Glacier National Park so special.
