The trail just off of the Highline Trail to the Grinnell Glacier Overlook
is steep, or as one visitor described, "a grind, but worth
it ",
as one will gain close to 1,000 feet in .6 of a mile. Take rest
stops along the way; it is a good excuse to soak up the views.
The Garden Wall can be seen in the background.

The sight of Mount Gould in Many Glacier (mountain with snow on it)
is an indication that the end of the trail is near. Don't be surprised
to encounter windy conditions at this elevation of 7,600 feet.

Looking into Many Glacier from the overlook, Grinnell Glacier can be
seen at the base of dominant Mount Gould. Upper Grinnell Lake can
also be seen. The glaciers in Glacier National Park are receding,
and when Grinnell Glacier ceases it's slow and grinding movement
downward, it will no longer be considered a glacier, but an ice
field.
