Highline Trail to Granite Park- August 20, 2005

On the Highline Trail heading toward Granite Park Chalet (878kb)
The Highline Trail is one of the most scenic and popular trails in Glacier National Park. The view in the panorama shows Lake McDonald to the west in the distance, as well as Haystack Butte to the south, as the trail winds north to Granite Park Chalet. Evidence of the 1936 Heavens Peak Fire can still be seen by snags weathered and still standing. Heavens Peak, to the right of Lake McDoanld, with snow that lasts year round, is the dominant mountain in the panorama.
