In the summer
when the Going-to-the-Sun Road is open, Avalanche is a busy and popular
destination. In early Spring, it is a quiet spot where one can expect
to hear the sounds of Varied Thrushes and the wind blowing through
this old growth forest.

The trickling
sounds of water running through Avalanche Gorge breaks the silence
of the calm and still forest.
