Court Cupboard, Acc.#79, Cat.#203.

This Jacobean style cupboard was made in England in 1700. It was constructed in three sections with two large ball finials dropping from either end of the top section, and straight flat legs. Court and press cupboards were the most important pieces of furniture in the Jacobean style. They were owned by the wealthier families and used for the display of silver, delftware, and other treasured posessions with a closed section for storing utensils for everyday use.

Note the two 19th Chinese style delft vases on either side of the English punch bowl on the top.
