106th Pennsylvania Infantry Monument
Gettysburg National Military Park Kidzpage

106 PA Mnt This scene depicts a bayonet charge! Late on the afternoon of July 2nd, Confederate forces had reached the position of the 106th Pennsylvania Infantry on Cemetery Ridge. The Confederates had overrun Union troops near the Codori House, which is in the background. The 106th Pennsylvania Infantry made a desperate charge with fixed bayonets and drove back the Southern soldiers all the way to the Codori Farm buildings and captured many of the exhausted Confederates there. This bronze relief depicts the charge of the 106th Pennsylvania Infantry that afternoon and tells part of the story of the Battle of Gettysburg. Could you guess that this was a charge? And against who are these men charging?
