Gettysburg The Soldiers' Battle, 2004 Broadcast

Broadcast Date: May 20, 2004

As part of our commitment to Distance Learning Programs, Gettysburg National Military Park broadcast "Gettysburg: The Soldier's Battle" on May 20, 2004, straight from the Gettysburg battlefield! Our purpose was to bring the story of Gettysburg and the people who were there in 1863 to the school classroom, and offer a meaningful program for students and teachers around the country. The theme of this year's annual broadcast highlights the human element of the battle and focuses on individual soldiers in both armies. Our goal is to provide students with an understanding of who these young Americans were that served during the Civil War, how they lived and fought, what they fought with, and what a battle such as Gettysburg cost them and this nation. And possibly best of all for schools and teachers alike, the program was free of charge!

If your class participated in this year's broadcast, please fill out our “Gettysburg: The Soldiers’ Battle” Distance Learning Broadcast 2004 Evaluation Form and submit it to the park. We will use these evaluations to guide future educational broadcasts.
