Facilities: Provided are nine portable toilets & one handicapped unit, two potable water faucets, trash receptacle and a common use pavilion. There are ten camp sites, each with a picnic table and a fire ring. Tents and dining canopies are the only shelter permitted. No campers or recreational vehicles are permitted. Vehicles must remain in the parking lot only. Camp stoves using propane or white gas are permitted. All wood fires must be contained within the fire ring. The park does not provide firewood. Trenching for drainage around tents is not allowed. Quiet Hours: 10 P.M. to 6 A.M. There are no outside lighted areas. Shower Facilities: There are no shower facilities at the campground. The local YWCA located at 1685 Fairfield Road, Gettysburg, accepts reservations for their shower facilities by calling (717) 334-9171. (There is a fee for showers at the Y.)
Fees: There is no charge for your stay at McMillan Woods Youth Group Campground. Directions: McMillan Woods Youth Group is located on West Confederate Avenue on the battlefield. Look under "Activities" on their web site for more information! Security Notice: In planning your visit to the National Military Park, please keep in mind that the Visitor Center and Cyclorama Center are federal facilities. For security reasons, backpacks, day packs, large handbags, packages or other large containers are prohibited in the buildings and cannot be left outside the buildings. All persons entering are subject to search. Please lock your valuables in your vehicle trunk out of sight.
CURRENT RESERVATION INFORMATIONTHE 2007 CAMPING SEASON- The McMillan Woods Youth Campground will open on April 13, 2007 and close on October 29, 2007. Camping is by reservation only. Reservations for the 2007 camping season can be made by completing the campground reservation form available through the link below, and submitting it no later than January 16, 2007. The drawing will be held on February 1, 2007. Complete the form and submit it by regular mail to:Gettysburg National Military Park A reservation form can also be obtained by calling Staci Burchett at (717) 334-1124, extension 423. McMillan Woods Youth Campground Reservation Request 2007 Reservation requests must be submitted prior to January 16, 2007. There is no penalty for early submissions but there is no guarantee of first choices for early submissions. For scouting and youth groups that visit Gettysburg National Military Park, we offer McMillan Woods Youth Campground, located on West Confederate Avenue in the park. The camp area is open from mid April through October each year.
