The Multi-Use Pathway (MUP)
For a new way to enjoy the Hook: try our recently completed 5-mile long Multi-Use Pathway (MUP)! The roomy 12-foot wide pathway accommodates walkers, bicyclists and in-line skaters.

A Year-Round Destination
Public programs and activities continue year-round at Sandy Hook. A complete, updated program guide is available or call the Visitor Center at 732-872-5970 for all park and program information.

Destinations include:
Sandy Hook Visitor Center, daily, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Features exhibits and a bookstore. Stop at this former 1894 U.S. Life-Saving Station for information on how best to see the park. The one-mile long Old Dune trai begins nearby.

Fort Hancock Museum, weekends, 1 to 5 p.m., daily July & August. The museum is in the former post guardhouse and has a bookstore and exhbits.

Sandy Hook Lighthouse, tours for season begin in April. The Sandy Hook Lighthouse has been a beacon for ships since 1764. New Jersey Lighthouse Society volunteers lead the lighthouse tours. Tours are first-come first- served and visitors must be 48” tall to climb the stairs.

History House, weekends, 1 to 5 p.m. A restored 1898 Lieutenant’s residence on “Officers Row” overlooking Sandy Hook Bay. Exhibits highlight everyday life at Fort Hancock.

Battery Potter, opens for season in April, weekends. Tour one of the oldest gun batteries at Sandy Hook.

Sandy Hook Bird Observatory, Tues - Sat, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sun 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the New Jersey Audubon Society field center with a bookshop and displays, 732-872-2500.
