This page is posted as an information source for Fort Washington Park volunteers. There is no link from the main page because this information is not intended for the general public. Park events, off-site programs and interpretive services that are to be carried out by volunteers will be listed here along with Volunteer Coordinator’s remarks and comments. This page will be updated on a regular basis to keep the volunteers advised of changes in schedules and additional details about events will be added as they become available.
Volunteer Events Schedule
APRIL EVENTS
3th Artillery Training for the Fort Washington Guard. This day will be used for the Park's living hisotry volunteers to practice thier cannon firing on the field howitzer. 10:00 am start.
MAY EVENTS
1st Artillery Day at the park. Everyone should be in uniform by noon so that we can set up and start the first demonstration at 1:00 p.m. Will be with the Universal Soldier program this year.
JUNE EVENTS
5th Artillery Day at the park. Everyone should be in uniform by noon so that we can set up and start the first demonstration at 1:00 p.m.
Red Cross Alexandria Waterfront *Unconfirmed* The mountain howitzer and exhibit will be displayed during the annual event. We are in need of Volunteers to assist the Ranger on Saturday and Sunday. When the event is confirmed additional information will be added.
11th Fort Ward *Unconfirmed* A decision will be made at a later date.
JULY EVENTS
3rd Artillery Day at the park. Everyone should be in uniform by noon so that we can set up and start the first demonstration at 1:00 p.m. **Note: According to the responses this will happen. Don't forgot to bring you families. We can do a potluck or everyone just bring their own for their own. YOU DECIDE.
AUGUST EVENTS
7th Artillery Day at the park. Everyone should be in uniform by noon so that we can set up and start the first demonstration at 1:00 p.m.
SEPTEMBER EVENTS
4th Artillery Day at the park. Everyone should be in uniform by noon so that we can set up and start the first demonstration at 1:30 p.m.
17th & 18th Pamplin Park . *Unconfirmed* A decision will be made at a later date.
24th & 25th Universal Soldier. Program is from 10-5 & 10-3. If enough people we will fire the cannons. The 24th is National Public Lands Day and it is a fee free day for the park.
