Fort Washington Park

Tours and Education Programs

Fort Washington Park offers a look into the history of the defense of the Potomac River and the Nation's Capital. Situated on 340 acres of property along the shores of the Potomac River just 15 miles south of the Washington DC, the park offers both historical and natural history of the area.

A 30-minute fort tour introduces the students to the form, feature, and function of the old fort. By exploring the fort they learn about how technologies and advances in military equipment changed throughout the years.

Special programs can be arranged if scheduling permits. This will require an advance notice of 1 month, accompanied by an outline of the material you would like to see covered.

Reservations are required for a guided tour. Educational institutions visiting Fort Washington Park for an educational experience may apply for a fee waiver. View the guidelines for an educational fee waiver.
