Fort Sumter National Monument includes historic Fort Sumter, located in Charleston Harbor and accessible only by boat; the Fort Sumter Visitor Education Center and ferry departure facility, located in the city of Charleston at 340 Concord Street; and Fort Moultrie, located on Sullivan’s Island. You may use either the National Park Service authorized concession ferry, which is run by Fort Sumter Tours, Inc., or your private boat to reach historic Fort Sumter. All other sites are accessible via automobile.

  • Fort Moultrie (unit of Fort Sumter NM): (9:00 am - 5:00 pm)
  • Liberty Square Visitor Education Center and Ferry Departure Facility (8:30 am - 5:00 pm)
  • Fort Sumter: March 1 - March 30 (10:00 am - 4:00 pm); April 1 to Labor Day (10:00 am - 5:30 pm); Day after Labor Day to November 30 (10:00 am - 4:00 pm); December 1 - February 28 - except the week after Christmas - (11:30 - 4:00 pm); December 26 to December 31 (10:00 am - 4:00 pm)
  • Headquarters - located at Fort Moultrie (7:30 am - 4:30 pm during the work week)
