.THEME, GOALS, AND OBJECTIVES

Interpretive Program at GuardhouseTheme:

  • Guard duty was an unpleasant task, but it beat being locked in the guardhouse.

    Goals:

  • To describe the duties of the guards.
  • To tell about the crimes and punishments.

    Objectives: After participating in this program, the students will be able to:

  • Name three duties of the guard.
  • List three different crimes and three different punishments.
  • Explain why soldiers deserted.
  • Tell why soldiers got into so much trouble.
  • Suggested Activities:

  • Let the children climb up on the platform bed.
  • Pretend to lock some of the students in the cells.
  • Demonstrate the role of a sentry by having a student pretend to be someone who is coming onto the fort grounds and needs to give the password to you, the sentry.
