TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

The tools which would be used in a construction include the following:

Adze
Broad Axe
Froe
Maul
  • Adze: an ax like tool for trimming and smoothing wood with a curved metal blade at right
    angles to the handle.

 

  • Broad ax: an ax with a very wide blade which is used for hand hewing timbers.

 

 

  • Froe: a metal wedge shaped tool used for making shingles.

 

 

  • Maul: a wooden mallet used for striking a froe when making shingles.
