Parks as Classrooms - A National Program
The
natural and cultural resources of the National Park Service are at the
heart of what has been called the nation's "greatest university
without walls." The education programs at the new Interpretive
and Education Center at Fort Necessity National Battlefield will tie
into the "Parks as Classrooms" programs, a national initiative
intended to:
- build partnerships between parks and conventional educational institutions
and other community groups;
- provide practical hands-on experience and opportunities to learn
about the resources of the National Parks with or without a site visit;
- provide professional development opportunities to teachers and
offer alternatives to supplement textbooks and lesson plans.
