SHARPS CARBINE (MODEL 1867)

Some of the post-Civil War units stationed at Fort Davis may have been armed with the improved Sharps Carbine. The Model 1867 was a single-shot, breech loading carbine, chambered to accept a .50 caliber metallic cartridge.
