Fossil Plants of Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument

The completeness of the fossil insect assemblage found at Florissant is rivaled only by the Fossil Plants. The volcanic ashes and diatoms found at ancient Lake Florissant allowed even greater detail to be preserved in the already relatively easily fossilized plants. Everything in the plant community from giant redwoods to microscopic diatoms and pollen grains can be found fossilized in Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument!
