From the parking lot at Smith Point County Park, it's about a quarter-mile walk to Fire Island National Seashore's Wilderness Visitor Center.
The TWA Flight 800 International Memorial, located near the Atlantic Ocean in Smith Point County Park, was dedicated on July 14, 2002.

Smith Point County Park is located on the eastern end of Fire Island National Seashore. The park is accessible by car via the William Floyd Parkway. There is a parking lot there (fee charged) and parking is available to reach the Otis Pike High Dune Wilderness Area.
The park has its own website under the Suffolk County Parks Department.
