Since 1997, Fire Island National Seashore has hosted a biennial conference to present—to the general public—scientific information from National Park Service-funded projects. This conference provides an opportunitiy to learn the status of the research currently being conducted in the park. An additional value of the conference is the ability to communicate directly with the researchers, other public agencies, and park staff.
You are invited to attend Fire Island National Seashore's latest conference:
5th Biennial Science and Cultural Resource Conference
April 5 and 6, 2005
Berkner Hall
Brookhaven National Lab
Upton, NY
This conference, which is free and open to the public, provides an opportunity for members of the scientific community and general public to learn about recent natural and cultural resource inventories, monitoring, and research conducted on Fire Island and the William Floyd Estate. Experts from academia, government, and conservation organizations will present four topical sessions: Cultural Resources; Wildlife Management; Inventory and Monitoring; and Ocean and Bay Processes. Conference attendees will be able to gain insight into how the National Park Service uses science to guide management decisions.
